financial help for expecting mothers at university?

i am starting uni in september as a mature student and have just found out im pregnant. i would like to be able to continue with the pregnany but am worried about the situation financially. I work just one day a week as i am required to be on placement during the week so does this mean that i am not entitled to statutary maternity pay?

also what financial help do you get whilst you are studying when the baby has been born? i am not a single parent, we own our own house yet are on quite a low combined income.

I don't know what your statutory benefits are, but as a question of public policy I do not think taxpayers should subsidize your pregnancy while in school. You make your own choices in life and should live with the consequences.
