You can still get financial aid in the form of low-interest federal student loans. However, until you meet the financial aid criteria for independence, you will not be eligible for any grants without your mother's information.

Hi, I'm currently 19 years old and I live on my own. Apartment has my name on the lease as well as the utility bills. My parents are divorced and my mother refuses to give me her tax information so I can apply for financial aid, and my father doesn't have any info. I talked to a financial aid representative and they told me there is nothing they can do unless I was emancipated or married. I called a lawyer and they said after the age of 18 you cannot get emancipated since it is only for the government to recognize me as an adult. Does that mean no matter what I can't get financial aid?
