I feel SO SO stupid because usually I am great about catching things like this, but I've made a pretty bad mistake. I found out that a deadline for FAFSA is coming up so I panicked and got online really quickly to fill out the form. I searched FAFSA on Google and clicked on the first thing that came up (www.fafsa.com). Stupid me didn't notice that there was no .edu or .ed or .gov suffix, but the site looked like a real financial aid site. So I fill out the form (the ENTIRE form). I answer questions about my social security number, my address, my mother's social security number, her income, etc. Very personal, valuable information. I get to the end of the form and realize that it's NOT actually FAFSA, but a knockoff. It's asking me to pay for it - OBVIOUSLY it's not FAFSA because FAFSA has the word "free" in the acronym! So I went back and deleted all the sensitive information, and even went as far as to replace it with false, nonsensical information. I'm still pretty freaked out though...but it seems like it might be an easy mistake to make. Has anyone else done something similar? Did anything come of it?
