Financial Aid - Any benefit to not working as a student?

My school gives out grant aid. What I want to know is whether or not non-FWS (and FWS jobs) show up as income to the Financial Aid department, requiring both the parents and student to pay more tuition?

To me, it seems like not working, or doing little odds-and-ends things around the house is better.

Can someone explain how the student's income factors into this, and if fin aid offices are blind to FWS income?
