I am currently in my first year of college on financial aid through the FAFSA. I was thinking about leaving college and going into the military reserves, because I feel that it is a better fit for me right now, and also to take advantage of the Reserve G.I. Bill to pay for college to lessen the amount of financial aid I use overall. However, I know that when you leave college before getting a degree, you have to pay the loans back immediately (most of my aid was in grants, though. Not all was loans). I know I can apply to get an extension if I am unable to pay for a while (while in training), so I'm not too concerned about that. The reserve G.I. Bill doesn't give you anywhere near as much as the active duty G.I. Bill, but its still college money regardless. So when I would go back to college after training using the G.I. Bill and etc., and if apply for financial aid to use as well, would I not be eligible to receive aid until the previous loan is payed off, or can I still get aid through the FAFSA as long as I'm still paying off the previous loan from my first year? How does that work. Thanks
