finally had 1st epidural!!

I've been waiting 2 months for epidural.I
finally had my 1st this past tuesday.
It went well.But the dr.said that I would
need another one in februrary.
aren't you suppose to only have 3 a year.
Is this normal for them to give them back to back.
I was just concerned about
only having 1 left.
Does that mean my back is that bad?I know
the pain is!
any info. will help.

I had 3 epidurals, each 2 weeks apart. I had my last one on the 6th. I will be going in for a transforaminal injection in 3 weeks. I don't think it is unusual to have the shots that close together. I wish you luck with your upcoming shots.
 
Hi~ I also had mine a couple of weeks apart, three times. They worked too, but alas it didn't last. I had the last one in April of 2008 and had my two level fusion in Deceraber 2008. But I'm thankful for those shots because they allowed me to take a long planned for trip to visit my brother in Denver, so that was good. I was hoping to be like a lady I talked to whose shots lasted for over a year! oh well.... I'm feeling good now. I hope your experience end up being like the lady....

The epidurals did not do much for me, very little relief. That doesn't mean it wont help you. I'm still not sure what the transforaminal injection is except they inject the medicine directly into the root of the nerve.
