This article was on Comingsoon.net about Final Destintation 3 which tells you a lot about the film:
"It's back. New Line Cinema brings you the third installment in the frightening "Final Destination" franchise and this time with a whole new cast and twists.
The story follows high school senior Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and a group of frienRAB who celebrate graduation night at an amusement park. Right before they are going to board a rollercoaster, Wendy gets freaked out and her boyfriend Jason (Jesse Moss) talks her into getting on the ride. But, as soon as she is seated, Wendy has a premonition of the rollercoaster fatally crashing, killing her and her frienRAB. She demanRAB to get off the ride and her classmate Kevin (Ryan Merriman) follows her to make sure she's ok. Others are kicked off the ride as a result of making fun of Kevin and calling him names.
As the roller coaster takes off Wendy's premonition proves to be true and she watches as her frienRAB nightmarishly die.
However, you can't cheat death, at least not in the "Final Destination" series, and the survivors of the coaster learn they may not have been so lucky. Wendy discovers which one of them will die next with clues in pictures she took that night. She desperately tries to save them and herself.
ComingSoon.net talked to director James Wong as well as the stars of the film who gave us their take on Final Destination 3. Wong directed the first Final Destination and while he was excited to come back for this one, he wanted to make sure he had fresh ideas and do something that was different from the first two.
"The hardest part for me was, what are you gonna do for the opening incident? We didn't want to repeat anything or be less cool than what the other ones were." Once the rollercoaster idea came into play everything else seemed to fall into place, Wong explained.
The cast however would have to ride the coaster many times to get the opening scene down. One night they had to ride it 27 times.
"Your head feels like it's going to pop off of your neck. It's just insane. I've never felt that way," Winstead laughed.
"It's like a whiskey hangover. Not beer. It's like Whiskey. Your equilibrium goes ape sh*t because you just rode it 20 times," Merriman added.
They didn't seem to mind too much though and Winstead and Merriman even opted to do many of their own stunts. Merriman is especially proud of the drive thru scene and how he actually kicked out the front window of a truck.
"It was great. It was one of those scenes and we both agreed that if you're going to do a movie like this, obviously you can't research these situations or base it off a character you've seen. You've just got to do it. You've just got to make it real to you at that moment. So that was especially one of my favorite scenes because we're trapped. I couldn't get out, she couldn't get out. We're banging, screaming, honking the horn, kicking the wind shield. Running, jumping out so it was cool."
Although both stars were pushed to their physical limits in the film, they loved the story that went along with the gruesome death scenes that the "Final Destination" franchise is known for.
"I was excited about it. I read the script, 'I was like there is a lot of cool stuff to do in this.' It was challenging. When I got into I was like after awhile, 'don't make me cry again.' But you know when all was said and done it was so much fun to be like challenged everyday. Everyday was like high energy and high stakes. Almost passing out," Winstead said.
"Some people come to see the blood and guts, but there's also a really good story which is why I thought the third one was so good," Merriman continued.
He also admitted the story really made him think.
"It definitely makes you aware. You think about things. Especially home improvement stores. I mean because I went in one day and I was buying tar for my dad. I was looking around and was like 'good Lord there's an 80 pound bag of concrete 13 feet above my head.' And there's some guy who just got done smoking a joint at lunch operating a crane you know what I mean. You think about stuff like that. It makes you aware and I think that what's cool about these movies is that you can incorporate that into real life actually. I mean if it was a zombie with a knife you would say oh that was a good movie and never think about it again. But this actually kind of follows you home a little bit."
