To name a few:

Adaptation, brilliant despite Nic Cage....

Magnolia, despite Tom Cruise (though he only plays a minor part, I think he plays it quite well).

Vanilla Sky, despite Tom Cruise. I actually prefer this version to the original Abre Los Ojos, possibly because I saw Vanilla Sky first and because of the Radiohead track.

Days of Heaven, despite Richard Gere and Brooke Adams. Amazing photography by Nestor Almendros.
 
I don't actually think Cruise is that bad an actor... I just don't like giving his $cilon ass my money.

A Scanner Darkly, despite the usually awful Keanu Reeves, who actually pulls it out of the bag and is awesome in it.
