Are there any films you thought you'd like, then watched it and got disappointed? or vice versa, saw a film without having great expectaitons of it and you really liked it?

For me, I saw the breakfast club the other day, I was just expecting it to another cliched samey-samey shallow teen movie but I found it to be a really touching, funny insightful film and it's now one of my faves.

the descent really suprised me i thought it was gona be another boring routine monster flick.

ended up being one of my fav horror movies ever

wes cravens new nightmare was a great little gem aswell
thought it was gona be as bad as all the other freddy sequals but it was actually up ther with the first

Disappointed by:

Matrix trilogy.
Saw 3.
Wolf creek.

Too much hype over nothing.

Movies that suprised me:

Jacob's ladder.

The descent.
(Was expecting this to be a cheap version of the cave, i was wrong}

The good son.

When I started going out with my OH she made me watch Baz Lurmans Romeo and Juliet and I was pulling faces and complaining about watching it, but it blew me away and I now love the film.

Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I'd never even heard of it before I saw it as part of a cinema double bill back in the 70s. I went to see the other film, The Phantom of the Paradise, which was quite good, but not in the same league as Rocky Horror. I've watched it a few times again since then, and eventually went to see the stage show.

When Chicago was released it hit my 'absolutely not' list, but to satisfy myself that the movie was really as bad as I thought it was gonna be, I watched it on Sky a few months back - what a shocker, it is really good, good solid performances from the leaRAB and I would probably watch it again - that in itself surprised me

I went to see Chicago at the cinema when it first came out, and expected to enjoy it, but it was even better than I expected. I thought it was amazing. The way they keep cutting between the story and the cabaret performances of songs works very well. Yes, the performances are very good. Richard Gere may not be a great singer, but he's good enough, and his acting is spot on. I've watched it twice more on DVD, the last time just a few days ago.

Casino Royale, The Descent, I didn't even think Hot Fuzz would be that good!

Disappointed by Pirates Of The Caribbean, new Batman one .... generally by most Hollywood Blockbuster/superhero type fims. And re-makes.

Films that plesantly surprised me were

Terminator 3 .. I had no intrest in seeing it but my friend was a big Arnie fan and I went with her .. ended up enjoying the film.

Titanic ... Didnt really fancy seeing it when it was released .. saw it 4 times in the cinema in the end and many many times on vidoe/dvd .. ended up being one of my all time faves!

Reservoir Dogs.

I went to see it before the media jumped on it. That was back when I'd watch anything and I was kind of expecting a Jim Jarmusch type art house movie!

You know that feeling you get within the first few minutes if you're going to really enjoy a film? Well that happend here!

The Usual Suspects.

Convinced there was a double bluff going on, I didn't spot who Kaiser Soze really was, until the last possible moment. An outstanding movie. :)

Unknown: I watched this mainly because of the cast, Greg Kinnear, Jeremy Sisto and Joe Pantoliano amongst others, and the first few minutes weren't very impressive but the plot was so clever that I ended up totally glued to it.
A group of men wake up trapped in a chemical plant, some are tied up and one has a gunshot wound, The only other thing they have in common is that none of them can remember who they are or how they got there.
Well worth a look.

Beetlejuice, my favorite scenes in this movie are the Day-O scene, shake shake shake senora scene and the scene where beetlejuice wants to marry lydia but of course fails to, thats about it, the rest i dont care about.
