Ok, anyone thought "meh" when they've watched a film for the first time and then given it a second chance maybe months or a couple of years later and thought "this is REALLY good!" Reading the "Last movie I watched" thread and Unforgiven reminded me of this. First time I watched it I found it very meandering, to the point where I was dropping off. I visited a friend a couple of years later and a I arrived he was just starting to watch it on dvd. I decided to hang around and I loved every minute of it. Fantastic film, beautifully shot and nobody plays repressed violence quite like Clint
Another I can think of atm is Independance Day. Hated it in the cinema after all the hype, and nearly threw my coke at the screen when the President was giving his sugar-coated "Gawd bless America" speach before kicking Alien ass! Then I gave it another chance a few years later, without the hype, and just accepted it for what it was - a daft-as-a-brush alien invasion epic. It was great!
Funny how you can enjoy a film once you ignore the hype and see it for what it is. Seems to mellow your relationship with it
