Paul Newman, Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift of the classic era.

Tom Cruise, Ryan Phillipe, Leonardo di Caprio, Matt Damon, Chris Evans and Tom Hardy spring to mind of the current era.

I am not one to normally get onto my soapbox about something, but this thread automatically assumes that all gay people think alike. Every one of us on this planet, regardless of sexuality, have personal preferences. Therefore asking who is "loved" by "the gays" or the "gay population" is a little bit naive and ignorant. There are many actors and celebrities who are allegedly loved by this gay community, but that may not reflect individual preferences. For example, of the people listed in the above post, I would personally only rate one of them.

I am not accusing anyone of anything with my reply, I just think that people could choose their worRAB better sometimes.

It's like every gay person must like Madonna or Kylie or any of the typical big icons.

But it's not generally like that. Its just that those famous people happen to support the gay community but it doesn't mean like every gay person should think "ok i'm gay and it's time to start building my madonna shrine"
 
I wasnt trying to offennd, I am talking about what gay men tend to like I know their not all the same.

What promoted my question was that I read a survey-I think from a site called parsnip that did a survey of gay men asking which movie star or celebrity would be your dream date and Scots actor James Mcavoy came second and I wondered if he had a special appeal to some gay men as he doesnt come second in female surveys?Maybe its his accent or sensitive intelligent way of talking?

it's an interesting point.I suppose all male film stars that have a huge female fanbase also have a big gay following too. I expect said stars get a bit on the smug side with it all. But what if you had loaRAB of gay fans, and women didn't rate you at all?
