Hello,
I'm attending a 4 year university. My passion is technical aspect of film-making (editing, sound editing, etc), and I'm pretty good at it. I always bring around my little camcorder too. I also have an easy time learning languages (I'm going on tri-lingual right now). It is hard for me to decide between film and nursing because nursing provides a stable job with stable pay, which I consider important. I also find the medical field interesting, but it is highly competitive and hard to get into the nursing program in school and I'm easily stressed. However, I've heard that film is highly competitive after school and I know that not having a high-paying job can be just as stressful.
Basically, I am trying to decide between my passion - film (and trying to figure out if it should just be a hobby or if I should make it a career? since in college and maybe even later I won't have time to make it a hobby if I'm a nurse? I don't know) which I know will be fun and will make me extremely happy if I succeed, and nursing which, IF I get through the schooling just fine (I'd barely have time for other classes such as language classes), will definitely provide me with a comfortable life financially. Also, I am interested in anatomy and diseases but there is always a huge chance that that kind of career wouldn't give me the same thrill that film would; I like to be out in the open and meet people and experience/see things.
*** The prereqs needed for the majors split off next semester so I'm going to have to choose a path now so I can register for my classes, which is rather urgent. I just don't know which path to take and would love to hear your opinion, especially from anyone who has been in either one of the fields. ***
Thank you so much!
Any advice will be helpful.
The reason I'm trying to decide now is because I have almost completed all of my core classes and the classes I have to take next semester for either major differ so much, and I don't want to waste more time than I already have by going back and forth between the two.
