"file error": how to recover lost pics caused after switching memory cards...

...between Sony Cybershot cameras? I switched between two cameras in order to upload and edit a picture in Picasa 3 on Windows 7, because I couldn't find my USB cable. So I transferred (with a memory stick adapter) my 2GB Memory Stick PRO card from my Sony Cybershot DSC-W50 camera to another, older camera, the Sony CyberShot DSC-P8, and tried to upload and edit a picture on the computer using the older camera's USB cable. After editing the picture and trying to save it on Picasa, the picture would not save properly on the computer, so I was unable to upload the edited picture, and the picture could not be found on the computer. When I switched the memory card back to my camera (from which I took the picture that I tried to edit), I lost the pic and got a "file error" message on my camera! =( Then I tried switching it back to the other camera. I tried viewing and uploading it on the computer again (the pic file showed up on the computer under the older camera) but still, I cannot upload the pic on the computer or on Picasa again. I got "invalid image" this time under Picasa (because obviously the edited picture was missing!).

How do I recover the picture with the "File Error" message so that I can view it again on my DSC-W50 camera, or at least be able to find the edited picture and upload it normally to my computer? (Originally, I took the pic with this camera; it was fine before I messed it up. Now it's lost and I got a "file error" message. It's an excellent picture and I lost it and I'm really sad. =( Please help!

Any feedback greatly appreciated! Thanks!
