Figuring how much seed for intensively planted garden?

I'm trying to figure out how much seed I need for a home vegetable garden. The problem is that I'm gardening intensively in 4 foot wide beds, with plants/seeds equidistant in all directions, not in rows. But all the info I find tells me how far apart to plant them in rows. How do I convert the info for rows into info for intensive gardening?
