Fight speeding ticket or Hire Lawyer?

I got a speeding ticket about a month ago in Nassau NY for 80 mph in a 55mph zone on my motorcycle. I have a previous parking ticket it and I'm currently doing community service for a petit larceny charge. Tomorrow is my appear in court date because I did not send the ticket in. I was told by my lawyer that will cost $250 to plead not guilty and get a new court date but do you think that I will be able to plea bargain myself down to a similar charge my lawyer would fight for or should I hire the lawyer?

always fight a ticket. even if you know you cant win. they will most likely have a 'deal' that they will offer you. anyways to get to the point you probably dont need a lawyer unless you are in danger of losing your license, but for the info you have given it doesnt shound like thats the situation

unless you have a very good reason to get out of it. But it always worth you to go to court, if the police can;t come to court for some reason, then you are not responsible( that you don; even need a lawyer). but still you need to be very well prepared that the police will come to the court. Lawyer will find your a better excuse.
if you don;t have any other offense , then its' not worth to hire the lawyer. lawyer can't promise you that you will win.

if he can promise that you can win, then it might be worth it.
you can try to count how much will cost you if you lose( ticket fee , plus insurance, plus your time and gas to court), if it;s more than $250, it might worth $250 to hire one
