The car has been sitting on my drive for about a year, i recently passed my test therefore MOT, Taxed and insured the vehicle, the car drives fine, Although sometimes only blows hot air out of the heaters (not the heater matrix as just had this fixed) this does not happen all of the time. Driving the car recently i noticed my engine temperature gauge was past the red for hot and off the scale, i obviously pulled over and popped the bonnet only to find the engine seemed to be running at normal Temperature and no steam of smoke, the car does not have a leak and as far as i can see the gauge is registering the car as overheating when it isn't. This happened to me about 6 times on this journey. The car is in the garage today getting a new thermostat fitted and the rads flushed but ive also heard it could be something called a heater control valve. Could someone tell me by the symptoms what its more likely to be please?
