Fictional Attacks and Ablilities

What attack/ability has gotten your interest, as well as the most common ability you see in fiction?

Lazer Eye Beams: The ability to fire energy beams through your eyes.

Rising Uppercut: An Uppercut that sends the user up high in the sky more than a normal uppercut.

I was going to count Live-Action, but I don't know where to put this thread.

EDIT: Example list removed.

I guess I'm trying to say what What abilities/techniques do you commonly see in fiction?, as well as those you like? How many characters do you know that have the same ability, I mean?

I know, but right now this has all the makings of yet another terrible list thread where people will just regurgitate information. It's not so much a discussion as it is an informal database.

Well, I can not make it a list thread. Just say any abilities you commonly see or have your interest.

What about that, "Characters with Big Appitites" Thread? That seemed like a list thread.

Practically every discussion in this area of the forum becomes a list thread. That's the problem. I've seen enough of them over the last 2 to 3 years to know that this thread will almost certainly go the same way. I'm not trying to shoot you down, but this will almost certainly end up with people just listing things and not actually discussing things. People really need to ask before they post "Can this thread generate an interesting discussion of opinions or will it just encourage people to repeat facts they already know?"

If I may, I would like to ask a few questions that are related to this topic; I believe that it could add the substance that you’re requesting.

If you could select an attack and / or power from an animated program that you could use in real life, which attack and / or power would it be, and why? Also, what are your thoughts on animated programs that have the characters scream out the name of their attacks and / or powers?

Well, flying, strength, and duplication would be very useful in real life. And shouting out attacks is a bit stupid and not really necessary. Can't they just unleashed the attack with shouting it? At least, Dragon Ball explained that the Kamehameha has to be shouted, otherwise you're just arm thrusting.

No attack actually needs to be shouted; it's generally only done for toyetic/marketability reasons.

It's pretty sad, but I'm such a big geek that I've actually spent time thinking about this.

Myself, I'd either want the Superman/Son Goku/Ms. Marvel Pack: super-strength, super-speed, invulnerability, flight, heat vision (or just general energy projection), the Martian Manhunter Pack: super-strength, flight, shapeshifting, intangibility, telepathy or the Jean Grey Pack: telekinesis, telepathy, psychic energy blasts, flight via advanced levitation.

Where and how these powers would come in useful is little by way of repetition here; we've all seen our favorite heroes in action. However, my underlying desire for possessing such abilities would be in order to punish people who annoy the heck out of me. (Especially if we lived in a world where 'cartoon physics' ruled the day-where you can blast someone and not kill them; they'd just be in pain, charred and sooty for a few seconds then shake it off.) If I could blast people with energy and not murder them by doing so, I admit I'd be a 'serial blaster'. :D

I usually lean to the simple ... super-strength and with at least some attendant invulnerability. I loved super-strength ever since I saw Brawn throw Optimus Prime in vehicular form at an opponent ... that was just freakin' cool. :)

The Attack Calling ... when I was first exposed to it, I thought it was kinda stupid. It's grown on me since then.
