fiat ulysse clutch pedal sticking?

I have a N reg fiat ulysse 1.9 td, the clutch pedal was sticking when we bought it, it was only a now and again thingh though, the cable was routed wrongley now after re routing the cable the pedal didn't stick for a day but yesterday was pretty much undrivable because of it, there if no mats in the foot well that the pedal can catch on, any ideas? thanks
