Well, I'm not exactly a regular poster either. At the moment I'm on a holiday, so I'm around more.

So-so doesn't sound too good. Hope you're okay :hug:
 
yeah I remember they were the size of the old AIM icons and you couldn't fit much into it :lol:
 
Me too - I worked really hard to reach 500 posts too so it peeves me a little that it now takes 101 posts to get one. :lol: And the icons now look much prettier.

I remember the "choosing the stars" thing as well :eek: ... wow, that was ages ago. And when the icons were absolutely tiny and were mostly moving GIFs.
 
Did you guys ever go to boards that had posting parties? I used to post at the gilmore girls forum all the time and we would have posting parties where a bunch of us would set a time and chat about things. It was crazy! some of them went for hours well past midnight :lol: they were so much fun. i racked up a ton of posts during those :lol:
 
That is so bad! :lmao: But at the same time, they can experience what the "old timers" went through up until a few years ago.

I still feel a bit bitter when I found out that they changed it to 101 posts to get your own customized one. :lol: I actually had to work for mine for nearly a year! Especially since the number of boards I actually frequent in this forum are very minimal.

Though I would love to see the reactions of posters if they ever change it back to the 500 rule. Hey, wishful thinking. :D
 
yeah I'm still in touch with them :) my canadian friend I met here I just saw her in oct. 2009 and my aussie friend I met with her nov. 2008 so it was all fairly recent compared when I first started posting with them around 2002 or 03?
It was really exciting, never did I think I would actually get the chance to meet them. and now I send mail back and forth and we chat quite a bit on fb.

I was bummed when they changed it all to the boring yellow stars :( but it was so exciting to hit a milestone! now I don't post as often, so it's going to take ages to get to another milestone
 
:wave: Welcome back! I always loved picking the color of my stars, too. :lol: And I lost a ton of post counts too...it was so frustrating.

I remember these things too. I also remember when you needed 500 posts to even get your own custom tiny little icon and how it was so exciting to achieve it. :lol: And I used to try and match my star colours to the colour of my icon at the time. :goof: I've had this account since 2004, but I had an older account before that, so I'm not honestly sure when exactly I first started posting.
 
hellooooooo? I was here AGES ago! and then stopped having time for tv :( (and then didn't have a tv all together for awhile) I recently had more time to start watching tv (thank you unemployment :lol: ) so I thought I'd try to log in again and it all still worked!!!! I hadn't logged in in AAAAGES probably 3 and a half years or so... since then, everything looks pretty much the same....

but yeah I remember the early days when you could choose the color of the stars and the icons were so tiny! (and then a couple of times the server got messed up and wiped out a HUGE chunk of my post count :( I don't think I ever recovered :lol:

I was a frequent poster on the gilmore girls thread and actually made quite good friends from there. Both I've gotten to see in person and it was so much fun! One lives in sydney and visited her when I studied abroad in oz and then my other friend I saw met up with in Vancouver (she normally lives in edmonton) when I did an internship in canada. Both awesome girls really glad I got to meet them through ff :)
