Hey there halfpint,

Well, first of all, you're never going to "lend" her anymore patches right? If, for any reason, you change your mind and go back on them, make it clear to your cousin that you are not a pharmacy. If she's running out too soon, then she's not taking her meRAB correctly. If she has increased pain and her doctor won't raise her dose, then that's between her and her doctor.

I'm surprised that you still feel crummy, even with the lortab. Is it possible you actually have a real flu bug? It just seems strange that you still have some serious withdrawal after nine days.

Have you ever read the Sample Home Detox thread? It's on the main page, up near the top. There are some great suggestions that will help make your days a little more pleasant :)

Stay firm with your cousin. She knows you are withdrawing and refuses to answer her phone or bring back the patches you "need." In my opinion, that is really low of her.

I hope you're feeling better soon. Keep in touch and don't forget to take a look at that thread.

Wow...be thankful you have the lortab!! I was on fentanyl patches for over 2 years myself...I went cold turkey (lost my insurance and couldn't pay for them) off 75 mcgs and it was torture. After a couple weeks I thought I was better but wow...then it really started! Fentanyl lives so deep in your tissues and it takes a loooonng time to fully be out of your body. I was throwing up, running to the bathroom and not sleeping for days at a time for about 6 weeks!! I didn't have any meRAB to help during it though....I hope that you don't go through what I did---again--be thankful you have the lortab, that is why you aren't feeling it so bad. Good luck...are you going to get back on the patches?? How has your pain been?? They are a great way of pain control when used correctly. But...they can be very very bad if they are abused...keep us posted!!
take care!!

hi everyone...was hoping to get some information from anyone who has been on this patch..i have been on fentynal patches for 3 years now 100mcg.every 3 days along with lortab 10/500 and a nerve pill to help me sleep (5 years on lortab) due to 2 failed back surgeries. I have stopped the patch today is day 8 and was wondering how much longer is the withdrawl going to last...its not as bad as when i first took it off but today im having a hard day with not much sleep and my legs god!!! i wish i could take them off for a while to get a break from the aches and pains i am still having in them..i have been taking the hot bathes and beneydryl for this and it does take the edge off for a while but can anyone tell me if there is a light at the end of this tunnel??? I would love any advice or help that anyone could offer me to get threw this...thank you so much in advance....

another good day but still taking the benadryl every 4 hours and will continue for atleast another day...yes i am so greatful to have the lortab i'm not sure how i would have gotten threw without them to be honest...i plan on staying off the patch just because i would never want to try and get off them again...my back and sciatica pain hasn't seemed to be too bad at this point but then again i have been taking the lortab and benadryl around the clock...my legs wont allow me to sleep for to long without having to take something...my goal at this point is i want to get off all the narcotics but i am not sure how soon im going to try with the lortab...my surgeon want to put a stimulator in my back but at this point and time its not something i want to do with the bad luck i had from the other surgeries.....wow foolofatuk i could not imagine going threw what u went threw for 6 weeks...i was very careful when i used the patch i followed my dr.s orders and only changed mine every 3 days even though by day 2 i was sneezing and my legs would start hurting and feeling achy all over...my plan was to ask my dr for help getting off of it all since i have been on it all for so long that its not working as good as it use too...are you on something different now that your off the patch? i will keep you posted....take care

Hot baths. They help so much...also take walks and exercise, and for sleep get some phenergan from doc, this helps upset stomach too!;)

thanks emsmom for taking the time and trying to help me with this...Yes I have learned my lesson with her...I know she is using hers up way to fast but she will have to learn how to take them correctly or go with out them now...yes she knows excatly what i am going threw i have seen her go through it and she enRAB up going to the hospital and they usually admit her...i am also thinking that i might have caught something too...i do feel better but its mostly my legs at this point and i still have a hard time sleeping... i am on a sleeping pill from my dr. because i have had a sleep problem for 4 years now..i also have noticed that as long as i take benadryl and lortab every 4 hours it makes a big difference on how i feel...and yes i have read those but i should go back and read it again and see what else i might be needing to do at this point...i am hoping that i do stay strong and when it comes time for my scripts that i can stay off the patch now that i have made it this far without it i have 9 more days before i get them so hopefully i can be strong..again thank you so much for your support you are a very sweet person to take the time for me...halfpint

My pleasure :)

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Try hard, not to sit around waiting to see how bad it's going to get. Take hot baths for your legs (with epsom salts if you have some). If you have to, take five baths a day, as hot as you can stand it. It will definitely help.

Motivating oneself is pretty hard, but try getting out for walks if you can. Pick a destination and just walk (an ice cream shop lol, grocery store for chocolate, convenience store for a lottery ticket etc). You deserve a little fun :)

Hopefully, when the nine days are up, you'll feel great and not want to start on the patches again. If you decide you need the patches, ask your doctor for 25 mcg. 100 mcg will be way too much, having been off them for almost three weeks. Make sense?

Well, I hope tomorrow is better than today.

Good luck,
emsmom

thanks so much i didn't think about that with the dose...today was a great day took my son shopping and did alot of walking today..my legs are still bothering me but nothing near to what it was...i am still taking the benadryl every 4 hours and will continue that for another couple of days....hope all is well with you and again thank you for your support ....:) will post again tomorrow halfpint

well i think i am over all the withdrawals!!! thank you so much for your help and support emsmom and foolofatuk it was so very kind of both of you!!! god bless and take care ....halfpint

Why quit cold-turkey? Why not decrease the dose little by little. What has your doctor said about you decision to quit?

I agree with Amy - Why are you quitting cold-turkey? If you're stil taking the lortab, there's a good chance you may not feel much withsrawal.

I also agree with flintrock - take very hot baths and try to get some exercise if you can. Keep drinking plenty of fluiRAB (you will feel worse if you become dehydrated) and try not to "wait around" to see how bad the withdrawal will get. Make plans and keep yourself busy.

Good luck,
emsmom

Hey halfpint,

Although it seems like the withdrawals are over, don't to your happy dance just yet. After a few days, you may experience a little w/d here and there. That's normal. It shouldn't be bad enough that you need time off work or have to get back in the fetal position lol. You may just find you have the chills for a few moments, or an upset stomach etc.

You did it! Congratulations! I hope you are proud of yourself. You should be :)

Be vigilante of your surroundings and stay on top of cravings. If you ignore them, it may lead to a relapse. The addict mind is very sneaky sometimes.

Keep in touch,
Good luck and take care :)

My brother took those patches for about 2 months. When he stopped, he was in agonizing pain. He was convulsing for about 4 days and was back to normal about 2 weeks later, however he was only on them for 2 months.
I would suggest telling your Dr. that you ran out, or whatever you gotta tell them and say you want to quit. They prescribed my brother tramadol which he didnt take because he was so terrified to prolonging the wd. I had taken them for pain pill wd and they made me feel better. Maybe you can get a script of those to help? Cold turkey off such a strong drug can be dangerous.
I really really hope youre doing better and you have my prayers.
PS- GNC or any herbal remedy shop sells a blend of vitamin that helps with restless legs. Its pretty cheap too! also potassium supplements help with RLS.

hello everyone...today is day 17 and still doing ok..i am so grateful for the lortab!!! friday i ran out of them and it was a night of pure hell..all my symptoms were back with revenge...thank god saturday morning i could pick them up..i was there as soon as the store opened lol..i also picked up my patches not sure why at this point but i have no desire to put one on..i am going to monday morning call and make a dr.s appt and talk to him about this that i have taken myself of them and bring the ones i picked up with me and see what he says i should do..i do at some point want to get off the lortab but i know right now it would be just too much for me to handle at this point with what i went thew friday .... was wondering i am feeling better at this point but when will my sleep get back to normal and when will i get my energy back?? i still feel like i am so exhausted with only getting a few hours of sleep at night i do walk and do my housework but feel like crap everyday and im hoping that it will be over soon...thanks so much and god bless halfpint

I am so glad that I had stuck it out and got threw it..i still am taking benadryl i figured take it incase lol for a few more days..my sleep is getting better i dont sleep threw the whole night but i get about 5 hours straight so I am grateful for that and figured it will improve with time..again thank you so much...take care

thanks for the post...i have quit cold turkey not by my choice...i have been wanting to get off the patch for sometime now because the dose i am on my body has adjusted to so by day 2 i am sneezing and the body aches start..i have talked to my dr about that and he wont change my dose..the reason i had to quit cold turkey was i have a cousin who is batteling cancer and from time to time she runs short on hers so i help her out and usually she brings mine back to me when she gets hers...we are prescribe the same dose and i know i should not have enabled her to mine but with her situation i couldn't say no...well this time she ended up taking 6 of my patches and when it came time to give them back she never called brought them over...one time she did answer my call and said she would bring them to me..needless to say she never did...i was afraid to call my dr and explain what had happened so here i am going without help to get off them...as for the lortab they do give me some comfort but it is short lived...i was counting on them to help me not have withdrawal but i still am and today is day 9...im just wondering when i am going to feel better ..as of this morning i still have the shaky feeling and my legs are still hurting and my stomach is still very crampy...i just feel like i have been hit by a bad case of the flu still...she has put me in a bad situation and now i have to pay for it!!! thanks for your support and suggestions..
