fentanyl pain patches

Talk to your doctor and explain the pain you are having. For nerve pain in my arm, I was taking Lyrica (150 mg/day) and Cyrabalta (60 mg/day). Yes, Cyrabalta is an anti-depressant, but it also is used for nerve pain. Again, talk to your doctor about a plan of action to get the right prescriptions for your current pain level.
 
Do you mean dependent or are you talking about being addicted to them? There is a huge difference between dependent and addiction. If you are taking it as prescribed by a doctor for legitimate pain then you are merely dependent. The dependence will occur very quickly though on the fentanyl patch and I would imagine in about a week or two. please give us more information about why you are taking it and whether you are abusing at all.

There are alot of different medications (non-narcotic) that can treat nerve pain. I have nerve pain and I have been on nearly every medication out there to treat it. Everyone's body reacts differently and what works for one person might not work at all for another person. However, here are the medications that help nerve pain:

anti-seizure meRAB - Neurontin, Lyrica, Trileptal, Tegretol, and Topomax

anti-depressants - Cyrabalta, Effexor, Trazadone, amitryptiline, and nortriptyline

atypical opiod - Ultram(tramadol), Ultracet

The last one Ultram and Ultracet are mild opioRAB and can be abused like other pain medications. You should check out the Pain Management board and post over there too. I normally post over there but I am also in recovery too so I post over here sometimes. Good luck

I have 2 buldging disc in my lower back, and the pain goes down my right leg. The pain is so severe,somethimes i cannot even stand up or up straight i also was 370 pounRAB. i am recently 298 i was wondering would i still be in that same pain if i don't use the patch,but scared not to put it on because i don't want that kind of pain like before thank you
 
I have 3 budging discs in my neck, plus spinal stenosis. I was on 60 - 80 mg/day of Oxycodone (Percs) for the pain, plus a handful of other meRAB for the nerve pain. Funny thing happened... I was going to the neurologist for my surgery evaluation and I decided to stop taking the Oxy so he could evaluate the pain better. Other than barfing my brains out for 12 hours straight from stopping 60 mg/day, I found out that my pain wasn't really that bad. Told the doc my pain was gone, turned my head from side to side and he threw me out of his office. That was when I found this forum to help me through my withdrawals.

The body has amazing healing power and can fix or get used to so many things. My injury is still there, my stenosis is all up and down my spine, but I am currently pain free. If I didn't stop that one day taking the pills, I would have never known because my body wanted me to continue to take the pills.

You should talk to you doctor about it. Fentanyl is about the most potent pain killer out there and possibly you can reduce down to a lesser pain med. Dropping the weigh is a BIG help also. The weight puts pressure on the spine and can cause increase inflammation of the nerves. I used an incline machine to hang up-side-down and I honestly think that is what helped my injury to heal. They only cost about $120 and for me it was worth it. I hope it works out for you. Good Luck.
 
I would really like to thank everyone for all there information. This has really helped me alot. I am feeling better about not taking the fentanyl pain patches anymore. I also have the nerve pain in my right arm at night when my body is relaxed at night I cannot sleep when that happens. Can you tell me what i can do about that
