Felling pretty awful - Mixture of symptoms, not sure if they are related or not.

Right now I want to go to bed and sleep, but I have such aching pain from my mid-back down to my toes that it makes that seem impossible - and to be honest I'm a little scared by the sudden symptoms I've had today.

It has only come on this evening. I am very cold too, not needing a blanket but i have ice cold feet and getting goosebumps all over arms which is very unusual for me - I LOVE the cold and very rarely wear shoes or jackets in winter (in Australia btw, so our winter is not so cold - but it is summer here at the moment).

I also have this strange pain radiating from my abdomen - it goes up to my ribs, occasionally it feels like it goes up a little further into my chest, but most of the discomfort from this is around belly button. This kind of woke me up this morning and has been intermittent all day - sometimes there is nothing, and I have felt a little nauseated at times with it. I thought I might have a stomach ulcer or something! But now I have this other pain that is all down back and legs I am not sure if it is related or not (I have a fair bit of trouble with back/neck, but normally sharp pain not this horrible aching).

Also, I have had a bit of a cold/flu the past 3 weeks that almost ended up on my chest but it seemed to be gone, except for what I think might have been swollen lymph nodes? along my jawline (very sore) which has settled, and then I got a very sore spot under my armpit 3 days ago which has also settled.

Anyone got any ideas or advice? I happen to have a doctors appt tomorrow to get scripts etc so if it is still there I might mention this to him, but I don't want to look like I'm worried over nothing, and the symptoms are so vague.

Many thanks.

I have to wonder about apendicitis. The pain around the belly button sounds like it could be. The goosebumps may be from fever associated with some sort of infection in your body. I'm glad you're going to the doctor. Please let us know what they decide to do for you and good luck!

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't end up mentioning this to the doctor when I went the following day as I felt kind of silly about it (I was going for medication reviews, etc), and in the morning before I went I was fine and back to normal. I woke up during the night dripping wet and had a temperature and the awful back/leg pains still, but by morning all was ok. I did sleep in though, and did not eat breakfast before I went to doctor.....and when I got home and ate some toast, it all started!

I have had constant diarrhea for 3 days now - averaging between 10 and 12 bouts in a day and it is basically orange water (like a high pressure hose, sorry for disgusting image, but it is pretty 'forceful' and not sure if that may be relevant). If I eat something, I get the diarrhea within an hour. Today (day 3 of diarrea) I thought I was ok - I even got some toast in and kept it in for about 3 hours - and then it started again and in the 10hours since the first bout today I have had 9!!! My parents told me to make a doc appt today but didn't end up doing it because I was fine till mid-afternoon. The strange stomach pain is there too, on and off - and not necessarily before a bout of diarrea, often afterwards. It is not a sharp pain though.

Apart from not being able to leave the house, and not eating much, I feel ok - not too lethargic or anything at the moment. But 3 days of this is getting a bit much - and I have lost 3kg (not that that's a problem, because I need to lose a lot more than that, but its probably all fluids).

The only thing I think it may possibly be from is Metformin tablets I am taking....but I have taken them for quite some time with no reaction for months, and never ever this severe even when I first started them...and I am only taking 1 extended release rather than 3 that I have tolerated fine in the past...plus the temperature and the pain could mean its something else.

Sorry this is so disgusting, but its almost Christmas and I doubt I will get in to a doctor at this rate! Other than keeping fluids up (and trying Immodium/Gastro-stop tablets - which are not really helping btw), what else can anyone suggest (including doctor)? Thanks.
