My husband had an l4-l5 fusion back in May 2007. He has had a few bumps in the road, but for the most part has done really well. He was pittling in the yard on Sunday and fell straight down onto his bottom. It scared him pretty bad so we went to the ER and they did an x-ray. The x-ray showed that the hardware was intact and the disc above and below looked normal. THANK GOODNESS!!!! He is now having some low back pain along with burning down his leg to his knee (similiar to before surgery). Do you think he just aggravated something since he is so new post surgery or could he have injurged himself. Orthopedic said wait til Friday and if no improvement then he will see him. What do you all think?

I think it's possible that he's just aggravated things. Let's hope so! Is he taking it really easy, using ice and/or heat on it, lying down more, etc.? Falling is one of my big fears!

I hope he's okay. Let us know...

I suspect he just aggravated things and probably pulled some muscles trying -to stop the fall. He might need some heavy duty anti-inflammatories or steroiRAB to help him get over this hump. I would definitely take it easy and not to any bending, lifting, or twisting that could aggravate it worse.

I will be lifting him up in prayer.

Ok, we saw the orthopedic today and he confirmed that nothing looked different than his last x-ray (post surgery/pre-fall). He said that his educated guess was that he just inflammed everything pretty good. He said that it might take a while for everything to calm down. He put him on steroiRAB for 7 days and muscle relaxers as needed and some Lortab. He said that his neurological exam was good so he just wants to see him back in one month. Keep your fingers crossed that everything improves.
