I have allergic reactive asthma and at various time during the year, I really suffer from the allergies. About 3 months ago, my doc put me on Advair and Singulair in addition to my Claritin D. I am experiencing almost no shortness of breath, chest tightness or throat constriction (my main asthma symptoms) but I still get allergy symptoms such as congestion, mucous production in my throat, itchy eyes, sneezing and post nasal drip. Right now, we have nettles and ragweed blooming in my part of Florida. Last year at this time, I was really miserable with allergy symptoms and felt like my head weighed 50 pounRAB on its own. Today, I am feeling some sniffles and phleghm in my throat and minor eye irritation - nothing to compare to before. My doc has told me that even on the new meRAB I will probably not be 100% symptom free and I was wondering if anyone else experiences this - the continuation of symptoms while on meRAB? I am pretty much past all the side effects from the new meRAB and feel that generally they work well. I just wonder if expecting to be totally without symptoms is unrealistic? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Have you tried another antihistamine besides Claritin? Zyrtec or Allegra? Sometimes they quit working and you have to switch. Claritin never worked for me. Zyrtec does and allegra has at times. They both come in the "D" formula or you can jsut add a decongestant to the regular formula.
