hi, ive had back problems for over a year, was desperate to see what the problem was, as it was painful down my bottom and legs, doc said was sciatica, but physiotherapist said i have weakened back muscles and need to strengthen my core area. He cracked my vertebrea and gave me an exercise to do morning and night and i went to a yoga class this am. I feel worse than ever.. does it get worse before better or should i stop?

I don't know the yoga excercises that you did, but if you do the excercises on all 4's, you need to stop them as they will make the pain increasingly worse. My yoga teacher told me that with my back problem, that I should only do things where I am on my back.

It is my opinion that the pain should not be getting worse, before it gets better. Your body is in pain, as a way of telling you that something is wrong. Was the Dr. you saw a spine specialist? That is who you really need to see and they will do various tests to dx. you. If you want to know what is wrong, you can have an MRI and EMG/nerve conduct done or even a discogram. These are some of the ways to find out for sure what is causing the pain.

Please don't make things worse by doing anything that worsens your pain, until you know what it is that neeRAB to be treated.

Hi

I have months of Physio and accupunture cured 90% of my leg pain but did nothing for my actual back pain.

I do core stability exercises which i can just about do without too much pain.
Swimming was recommended for me but it was AGONY!!

I have always been told 'if it hurts dont do it'!

Hi
like the others say you really need to be asking for an MRI scan as this will tell you wether or not you have deteriorating discs, this could then be the start af arthritic problems and could be agrivating some nerves, if this is the case hen you will need to do gentle exercise and nothing vigorous. Has your Dr recommened some antiflamatories to settle the pain. I hope yuo get some relief. You know where we are if you have any questions. There are some fantastic people on this board and they have helped me tremendously as they all know what we're going through.

Best of health
Tracy
