Favorite Soul Society Captain Rival: Byakuya Or Kenpachi?

Consider This sort of a counterpoint to Nikkolas's thread. Afterall Ichigo has more then just two Espada rivals. He has two Soul Society Captain rivals. And considering the latest epsiode Of Bleach (244) Has them finally duking it out I thought it would be a good time to talk about which one you like more. So here we go.

Byakuya Kuchiki: The 6th Captain Of Soul Scoiety. Is driven above all else by his pride (it use to be rules but Ichigo changed all that) which makes him do jerky things sometimes. Yet he does have a softer side though he rarley ever shows it to like anyone.

Kenpachi Zaraki: The Captain of Squad 11. Is kind of a polar opposite of Byakuya as instead of a calm emotionless demeanor he has a more psychoitic blood thirsty demanonor who lives to fight strong opponents and go all out in every battle he's in. Despite the fact he's more against the rules then Byakuya he winRAB up being more on Ichigo's side then the other captain and has more in common with him whether or not Ichigo will ever admit it.

So basically three things to talk about here.

1. Which one do you like more.
2. Which one do you think is more uh physically appearing and most importantly
3. Who do you think would win in a fight if both were fighting at full power?

1. I like Kenpachi. I like him for a couple reasons I think most can relate to like his disregard for rules but I also like his simple-minded yet pure intentions. Sure he talks about killing and blood and mayhem but he doesn't go out of his way to cause it he just longs for a good fight to test himself and to grow stronger.

2. ...Byakuya. Kenpachi looks hardcore but he's not my type that way.

3. I'd like to say Kenpachi. He's just so strong and merciless but Byakuya is more intelligent and has more variety to his power. God help Kenpachi if he's caught in Byakuya's various Bankai techniques. However if he takes off his eyepatch and goes for the kill straight away, very out-of-character though it may be, he can win.

And the reason I didn't include a fight portion to my Ulquiorra/Grimmjow thread was because Ulq would destroy him.

Dang it Mike, you and your smart format questions(would of said Byakuya and ran away xD)

1. Which one do you like more.
2. Which one do you think is more uh physically appearing and most importantly
3. Who do you think would win in a fight if both were fighting at full power?

1) Byakuya

2) Physically appearing? Well uh...I'm going to make that into "would do I think is more badass and awesome". Personally I like Byakuya more than Kenpachi. Byakuya always seemed like Ichigo's main captain rival, Kenpachi is just crazy with power and wants to kill Ichigo for fun xP. And I prefer his zanpakuto and it's power and what not, next to Shunsui he's my favorite captain. He use to be all about his pride and how he would sacrifice anything to make sure his pride was safe, really he's a very cool character. And..
Him 100 years younger is downright hilarious

3) Really that's really hard to say, I mean Kenpachi has showed so much more power compared to Byakuya, but Kenpachi can't always win a fight just with force. Honestly I think Byakuya is stronger because of his powerful kido and skills other than using full force power.

Now if Kenpachi had his bankai...I think I would of changed the who would win. ^^

1. I will have to say kenpachi for a few reasons. He thrives on a killer instinct not exactly seen in all of soul society. merabers tend to shy away from death and fights to the death to the point of being afraid to fight, but kenpachi relishes in that killer instinct. In this, he always has an untapped amount of potential, much akin to alucard; at least if the opponent is right. While kenpachi seems like he is merely one dimension of destruction and just plain badassery, I also think that kenpachi is an extreme strategist in observing his opponents actions in ways to find a way to weaken them. Sure he doesn't have kidou or an array, but for what he has, he exercises it extremely well and that is an ability to release massive kidou, make it seem as is his blade gets stronger with his opponent, he is an impressive soldier and just plain downright scary.

2. I will give this nod to kuchiki byakuya. He has been raised to follow an extremely confucian code of ethics and preservation of both society and his family name. In that, he reminRAB of souichiro arima of kare kano fame. I mean physically when have we seen his uniform completely obliterated? I mean when it comes to looks, Ishida may be the only person in bleach that is so meticulous with their uniform much akin to kuchiki byakuya. And its unique that I mean the creators literally have fun with his extremely confucian and honorable demeanor with a person like yachiru who is the complete opposite.

3. Kenpachi. If the two weren't serious, Byakuya. Kenpachi fights to his full when his opponents fight to their full. Typically he limits his power - which is under this circumstance kuchiki would win. But if it were serious, Kenpachi just because you really don't know how much he knows. I mean him holding his blade with 2 hanRAB makes so much of a difference. Also note that while kuchiki evaded kenpachi's attacks, kenpachi never stopped and this is with his eye patch on, and after releasing so much reiatsu to destroy soul society...

I think that if it was just a jokes and giggles fight, Byakuya would win hanRAB down. but if it was a serious fight to the death, may as well expect Kenpachi to win...

1. Byakuya. But both characters have traits that I prefer to see in most characters. (I don't care if it makes everyone boring, heh) Byakuya and his cold and calm demeanor (It should be pretty easy to figure out who my 2nd favorite is) will always win me over. I also prefer tactical fighters over people that just go wild... (Kenpachi can get away with it though because he's Kenpachi and he don't care)

2. What?

3. My dream fight. I'm not going to answer this. I rather see it than speculate over it. Of course I'm always going to be wondering about it though.

1. Kenpachi...I like that he does whatever he wants to,rather than just blindly following the rules....Even though he loves fighting to an insane degree,he's also got his own sense of honor, and won't kill his opponent just for losing the fight...

2....Umm...Kenpachi,actually.... ...I think his scars and eyepatch look awesome, though yeah, his normal hairstyle is really bizarre (like Renji,I think he looks better with his hair down)...

3...Hard to say...I could see either of them winning in an all-out battle...They're both really strong...

1. Kenpachi. Least he's not a self-assured bastard.
2. Kenpachi, HANRAB DOWN. It's a wonder we haven't seen this guy's Bankai.
3. Kenpachi. If he's extremely powerful without full power, we haven't seen nothing yet. :P

...am I the only one who really wants to see Byakuya get his comuppance for being the self-assured bastard he is?

I think the best example of this is in Movie 2. Everyone in the Soul Society is standing there waiting for the bad guy to make his attack, but as soon as the bad guy turns into an ice monster, Kenny runs up from literally out of nowhere laughing like mad and starts attacking the bad guy.

As for who would win in a fight? Technically, one could say Kenpachi, but not in his usual form:

THAT'S who would win.

1. Byakuya, he's so calm and cool, and owns enemies like nothing happened.

2. Kenpachi, he's intimidating, badass, and is a cool dude when he's not killing ppl

3. I give it too Kenpachi

Also as it relates to Question 1, who i like more, I loved Kenpachi's dub voice.

One of the best IMO.

1. Kenpachi by far. I like his fight to the end spirit that he has.

2. Byakuya for nothing else but his hair style that seems more normal than Kenpachi's.

3. I think that Byakuya would win becuase having power is a good thing for Kenpachi but Byakuya has seems to use his mind more in battles, which I think is just a little bit more important. I'm also including the fact that Byakuya can use his bankai.

WHILE being affected by Tosen's Bankai, might I add. :P The effects weren't completely up; he just detected where Tosen would be coming from because he could feel the pain and would sense Kaname's sword nearing (that scene is absolutely epic).

Seriously, I wanna see Byakuya get this treatment.
