(Classic "fiddle music" opening theme music to "The Family Feud" plays)

ANNOUNCER: It's time for "The Fanboy Feud"! Introducing Team Canada---Jonesy, Jude, Owen, Tyler, *and* LeShawna. Ready for action! And the Teen Titans--- Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Starfire, *and* Raven! On your marks... let's start---the *FANBOYYYY FEUUUUD*! With the host of "The Fanboy Feud", Richard Dawson!

(Dawson walks out, kisses LeShawna's hand. Jude sticks his hand out as well, but Dawson looks away annoyed)

JUDE: Dude, like I thought everyone got a turn at that, or somethin'.

DAWSON: Erm, *no*. Anyway, you all know how to play--- (BEAST BOY: We do? (Gets jabbed) Ow!)---so let's start with the Titans! (Titans cheer) Our category: "Name a demand or complaint by online fans about today's animated projects".

(They murmur among themselves)

ROBIN: We're going with... (glares at Beast Boy, who grins) "Not enough direct-to-video Teen Titans movies." (Mutters) This had better be right...

DAWSON: "Not enough Titans movies"... Survey *SAYS*! (Buzzer noise sounds) Oooh, sorry.... (goes to the other team) Team Canada! Your answer?

LESHAWNA (to the others): What should we pick?

OWEN: Ooh, ooh! "More Shrek projects!" I love Shrek---we have so much in common! Eating... making rude noises...

TYLER: More sports shows! Cartoon Network should *totally* re-air some basketball games from TNT! 'Cause, uh, kids like basketball... and live-action. Why else would they air my favorite movie, "Son of the Mask," so many times?

JONESY: Right... I'm sticking with "make a Wonder Woman cartoon." Because what we need... are more shows with hot babes in star-spangled bikini-costumes. (Makes growling noise; LeShawna rolls her eyes)

JUDE: Dude, we should pick "Things you find in a dumpster in New Orleans". (Others stare) What? This isn't "The $25,000 Trapezoid?"

LESHAWNA: Richard, we're going with... "a Wonder Woman cartoon."

DAWSON: "A Wonder Woman cartoon." Survey *SAYS*! (Dinging noise as it's the #1 answer; Team Canada cheers) Good job! Name one more, and you'll win!

LESHAWNA: Let's go with...

OWEN: (Interrupting) "More Chowder!"

LESHAWNA: Owen---!

DAWSON: "More Chowder"... survey SAYS! (Dinging noise as it's the #2 answer) Team Canada *WINS*! (Music plays)

OWEN: We do? (Laughs) I thought that was more of a request... (belches) 'cause I ate all the chowder being served backstage, and wanted some more.

RAVEN: (To Beast Boy) "Direct to video Teen Titans movies"? Not a chance as long as Time-Warner's myopically obsessed with you-know-who...

ROBIN: Hey, I can't help it if my partner's so popular...

CYBORG: Least you get to be on that "Young Justice" thing. All the rest of us have got is hoping DC doesn't fold, spindle or mutilate us in the *next* Titans comic book reboot---(Others try to say something) don't sugarcoat it, you *know* it's coming. It's been rebooted more times than a PC running Windows 98!

DAWSON: Our winning team gets $10,000 *and* a year's supply of Rice-a-Roni, the San Francisco... treat. (Stares at Owen lying in a pile of empty Rice-a-Roni boxes). Um, good night, everybody!

ANNOUNCER: This is Brainatra, speaking for "The Fanboy Feud"....a Mark Goodson Television Production! Stay tuned for "The $25,000 Trapezoid" (JUDES VOICE: Aww, yeah!!), next on most of these stations...

Pointless-but-amusing fanfiction-ish blurb above to set the mood is today's question: what're your favorite examples of game shows in animation?

To start:

- Total Drama series: what was long needed---a parody of all those awful reality shows, in this case, a low-budget show with a self-absorbed host and a bunch of oddball teenagers. Funny...

- The Simpsons: The "Springfield Squares" was a pretty funny bit (and parody of "Hollywood Squares")... plus a pile of in-the-series characters infrequently seen.

- The Flintstones: Barney did a funny turn on "The Prize is Priced", a parody of the 60s "Price is Right" primetime series. I liked the Stone Age prizes (giant seahorses as "motors" for a new boat), and the mention of a competing game show, "Beat the Sundial" (parody of "Beat the Clock" I guess)... heh.

Others?

-B.

I agree about the Total Drama series. While people on other parts of the 'net complain about the flat style, it (unintentionally) enhances how fake and cardboardy many "reality" shows can be IMO.

I liked The Simpsons take on Japanese game shows and how over the top they can be. The family was trying to win tickets back to the States and had to go through increasingly more bizarre, and dangerous obstacles.

Rocko's Modern Life had Heffer going through Jeopardy!, Family Feud, 25,000 Pyramid, and Wheel of Fortune stages, all part of a game show called "Triple 6", unaware that it was a trap by Peaches to get his soul. If it weren't for Heff's grandma, he'd have been stuck with Peaches forever.

There's 2 from Family Guy I like.

- Peter on one of the 80s episodes of Wheel of Fortune when contestants could use their winnings to buy prizes. He picks Q 3 times, a couple of numbers, and the Batman logo, and manages to get the right answer.

- Price is Right. The one contestant's reaction to the contestant after him for bidding one dollar over his bid. He looks at her and says "**** you!" I'm surprised that hasn't happened on the actual show because people doing that is frequent.

I like the 'Double Dare' spoof on 'Dexter's Laboratory'. They captured the whole 'Nickelodeon' mentality so well.

I also liked 'Family Guy's 'Jeparody' moment where Mayor West tricked Alex Trebek into saying his name backwards. Sending him back to the 5th Dimension ala 'Mr. Mxyzptlk'. :p
