Fave 5 Question

I went to T-mobile today to see if they could pop the trackball back in my Curve...I'm now waiting for a new trackball to be delivered and am using my old 8700g. I mentioned something about how I didn't have my Fave 5 now because I was using that berry (the 8700g) and the lady said that I actually did, I just don't have an icon on the blackberry but any calls made to the fave 5 I have set up would still be treated as a Fave 5 call and not charged against the monthly minutes because it was "in the system" and not dependant on the phone being used.

Can anyone else confirm this? I just remember a thread about someone managing to put Fave 5 on an 8700g, and when I first bought the 8700g, I was told I couldn't have Fave 5 because it's not a Fave 5 phone.

I work for t-mobile and i can say its 100% true that having myfaves call for free isn't dependent on the phone. T-mobile (customer care) only says that because its a "matter of customer satisfaction". They are just forced to say that because tmo says it helps customer experience to have a myfaves compatible handset. In other words as long as your faves are already set up and numbers are correct your good to go.

I confirm as well. I had myfaves when I had my 8700 I set it up through mytmobile.and the myfaves plan worked the way it was supposed to. I just didn't have the icons. I have myfaves on my 8120 now and removed the icons BC myfaves caused a lag in the 8120 os. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

too be very honest with you, i hear a lot of people who say tat it'll work because it is dependant of the network, however, i have seen some people who has had problems with it. not to sure if it was an issue with the network or the device but they were charged for their calls, and car wouldn't credit it because they weren't using a myfaves device. if you are using it for a short time ie waiting for your replacement that is fine but definitely run a risk with prolonged usage. i tell my customers better safe than sorry
