I'm a 17 year old girl. My mother died when I was ten; I live on a very small island, with no where to go. My father has been out of the job for over a year, since August of last year, and even before that has never failed to tell me what a stupid brat I am. He couldn't afford to put me in school this year, so he got me this homeschooling thing. He tells me that I have to do all the work, HIS and my own. I've tried; it's hard, but I've managed to do it. But when I asked him for help, he suddenly exploded on me. He calls me a "rude little pig" and "stupid brat", has used my clothes as rags, and today even told me that I'm not allowed to eat with the family. I've tried to run away, but I have no where to go. My friend's have tried to help me, but he called their parents and told them I couldn't go anywhere. I've been grounded for a month, don't get any allowance (he owes me about $300 from babysitting and my birthday money checks he has yet to give me the money for). I can't drive - he's kept me from getting a license. I spend every day cooped up in my room because if I go out, I'll just get yelled at. My laptop is the only thing I have, and he's threatened to take it from me. He's a drunkard and a stoner, and gets mad at me for things that I don't even understand, and I've just gotten so tired of it. I don't know what to do - I need to get away from him, but I can't. Do I call the police? I've threatened that, and he only laughed at me. All of the rest of my family lives in the states, and there is no way I can get to them. He told me that I've got "11 months to fix my behavior problems" before he kicks me out when I turn 18. When I move, I'll be going to a public school in the states, but because of the four months without school that I went through, I'm probably going to be held back a year. I'll be an 18 year old junior with no where to live. I want to stop all this before it gets there.. but I honestly don't know what I'm doing that makes him so mad at me.
He's also hit me before. It's been a while since he has, but lately, he's gotten very close to hitting me again.
