Fatcat exhaust question

Just installed a fat cat on my 2010 FLTRX (thanks brypink!) anyway are there supposed to be spacers coming off the exhaust hanger? It seems like with the stock exhaust slide hanger that there should be about 1/2 inch barrel spacer between it and the exhaust can, also any tricks to getting the heat shields where they come together to lay flat? There not supposed to be tucked or over yes?
 
Yes, there should be a spacer for the hanger (at least on the '07 version). I left the heat shields a bit loose until I got the muffler installed, then positioned the heat shields so they were even and tightened them down.
 
I didn't use any spacers...it lined up perfect. Not sure what you mean about the shields. I am glad it arrived ok, that was quick.
 
I've got 3/8" spacers.The tab on the header bolted on top of the transmission bracket.Check your clearance on the floor board mount.I've got about a 1/4" gap.Tight fit but has worked great for 14k mi.The exaust is perfectly parallel with the frame on mine.
 
I bought a Fat Cat off the shelf at a dealer. It was for an '07 so it's a little different than yours. The two black spacers for the muffler standoffs were not included by this dealer. I used a stack of 5/16 washers measuring a few thousandths under 1/2 inch. I called D&D they sent me two new black spacers for free. They measured right on .500.
 
The tab on the exhaust goes under the mounting tab under the transmission. Then you use the supplied spacers in the rear under the saddlebag, they go between the stock hanger and the Fatcat.

Loosen the heatshields and move them for best fitment.

Think we're looking at 2 different setups here.On my '10 Limited with the tab under the trans. bracket the exaust was pointing down and front head pipe hitting the floor board bracket.Would have had well over an inch spacer on the rear.With the tab on top the exaust is perfectly level and doesn't hit the floor board bracket.Mine didn't come with spacers or inst. as did the OP.I called the factory.
