Fantastic, Nokia can't repair or replace my e70. Now what?

So, my E70-2 has been at Nokia's Repair center for two months now. I've been pretty patient but the last week I've gotten on their *** about it. I was told a few days back that they probably won't be able to repair it anytime soon, and that they'd just replace my phone instead. Today, they told me that they have no way they can replace the phone. Instead, they will send me a check. But wait, since its been 30 days since I purchased the phone, they can't refund me the full price of the phone when I bought it. I got the phone from LetsTalk in September for $450 (with tax and shipping it came to $519). Now they are saying they can only give me $400. Should I be pissed about this?

Aside from that, I'm stuck on phone choices. I could get the E70-2 again, but I have to say, as amazing as it is, the memory issue was VERY frustrating. I sometimes couldn't use the web browser, even if it was the only thing running. And if I was writing a text message, and got a phone call, sometimes the text message would delete because of low memory.
Are there any new smartphones with features similar to the E70-2, but more memory? Maybe a better camera? 3G? (Although the camera on the E70 was pretty good, and the video camera was amazing)

If I had to give something up for other features, I guess I could give up the keyboard.

I was going to wait for the iPhone, but I'm not going to wait. I'm stuck with my 8125 right now, which I hate, so I need a new phone.

sorry to hear that man , that Su## big time. I just posted a question regarding how good is E70 b/c friend of mine wants to buy one. Try to call nokia and talk to their head of customer service (supervisor). The call center is in Tampa FL , so if you can't get any help there call their Corporate office . try to get the biggest guy over there and keep call her/him till they solve your issue. let them know they have to honor their warranty 100% or else !!!! if they can't replace your phone , they should go to places like buy.com and buy you a new E70 US version. don't give up.

BTW how was you E70 while you had it ??

good luck

The phone was pretty good, but the memory issue was the only issue. And a big issue. Most of the time I couldn't browse more than few a webpages before the browser crashed. And if I got a text in the middle of browsing, the phone would switch to messaging so I could see the text, but then my browser would crash.

Okay, I guess I should ask this: Is there a phone that has wi-fi, full web browsing, acts like a phone before a PDA, good camera, and DOESNT have memory issues?

You don't have browser issues or anything? Well, ****, maybe it is alright. I got the E70-2 right when it came out. Maybe it was a software thing..

You should consider Nokia E61.. No camera but phone is amazing. and also HTC S620 aint that bad either. Also if you wanan go WM and Pocket Pc then choices are unlimited. ( Hermes, P3600 etc).
Secondly i am surprised to hear about nokia offering you money instead of replacing the phone. It was understandable that if you have asked them for a refund instead of replacement. But they offering money is kinda weired and specially when it is not the full amount. I beleive it is someone in Nokia's personal desicion. Try talking to some supervisor or something. They should offer you a equal or better phone. Beacuse if they cannot fix the phone, it is your decision not theirs that what you wanna get.
So keep posted on what they say.

The N73 - whats it like? I was thinking, I wouldn't miss Wi-Fi that much. I'd rather a good camera over wi-fi. Doesn't it have a much lower-res screen though? I went from Symbian on a 6682 to a E70, the res difference was amazing..

You won't find a more brilliant screen than on the E70, but the N73 has the larger screen.

If you didn't upgrade your E70 to the most recent firmware before you had to send it in, I'm almost positive that caused a lot of your problems. The initial firmware on that phone was almost laughably bad. I've heard much better things about the newer firmware though.

The n73 has more memory than the e70-2 though right?

And can anyone comment on the keypad of the n73? I keep hearing its terrible.

I'm contemplating this wifi thing. I never really used the e70's wifi (during the.. 2 months that I had it...). And I would like a good camera. The resolution isnt a biggie I guess.

EDIT: ****, I forgot something huge. 3G. I believe its gonna be out real soon in my areas. I heard its showing up in Malibu (my home). I hope its gonna show in Santa Barbara at some point soon, its where I go to college.

I believe you're misinformed on a couple things...

N73: 45mb internal memory, 20mb (or so) RAM
E70: 75mb internal memory, 20mb (or so) RAM

The reason you ran into memory problems is due to low RAM from the RAM-intensive web browser.

The N73's camera is pretty impressive. It is better than the E70's for sure.

3G won't matter on any Nokia you choose since there hasn't been a s60 phone released with the US's 3G frequency. The N75 is the only phone planned to use Cingular's 3G if it doesn't get canceled.

Wirelessly posted (Nokia N73 ME: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.1; U; en-us) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

I can't speak for the other models, but i love my n73. I did have some memory issues, but the latest firmware seems to have really helped. I can browse for 30 minutes with other apps running in the background with no problem (although i'm sure which apps and what pages i'm browsing makes a difference). The phone is a great size. The keyboard is small...maybe less than half the size of the screen...but i also came from a SE W800i so it's not a big deal for me.

I wouldn't let the previous experience scare you from other E70s, but if you want something different for the price of what they're offering to comp you for, i would consider the n73
