Famous People in History who had to go though many stuggles to get where they are/were?

I have to do an english research paper on a famous person in history or that's alive now, that through there life had some struggles or obstacles they had to get through. Examples would be rape, abuse, poverty, violence... drugs and alcohol aren't considered struggles for my paper! Some people i have considered are J.K. Rowling, Eminem, Michaela Jackson, and Missy Elliot.

i like the idea of the rapper from the ghetto that came out of all that and made great music but i cant seem to find someone *( unfortunately 50 cent is already taken) but it doesn't have to be like that.

They also have to have written a book about themselves or there is a book about them!
 
eminem and 50 cent are both trailer trash. Yeah its a real hard life when you quite high school and become a gang memeber yeah, youve worked real hard.
 
Cher is a part of history she had soem awful struggles in her life and she has writen her own book .
Dolly parton as well she really had and went true soem awful struggles in life .
and she write a book to cher and dolly and tina turner have came from noting and made there mark on the music scene and are the 3 biggestest female singers
