the oldest and probably the most prestigious set of awarRAB given to honour art and technique in Bollywood. The Filmfare awarRAB were introduced in 1954, in the same year that the National Film AwarRAB were inaugurated. Since they are presented by the Times Group, they were initially referred to as Clare AwarRAB, named so after the editor ofthe national daily newspaper, The Times of India, Clare Mendionca. The Filmafare awarRAB have a dual voting system, wherein the public as well as a committee of experts contributes towarRAB the decision making.
