Family Guy - So, is Stewie evil now?

I cant seem to figure this out. Is Stewie evil now?

Ever since "The Hand That Rocks the Wheelchair", I am expecting a complete turn around in Stewie's attitude getting back to more of his first season persona.

In so far though, it seems like everything is back to normal and the whole incident never happened.

I am hoping / was hoping this would be a permanent change. I really miss the Stewie trying to take over the world antics.

Did you really expect a change in chracter? At most, that episode was the writer's nodding at the fact that Stewie has changed. If you were talking about the end, and not knowing which Stewie lived: that was nod at the Thriller video. It was a joke, take nothing from it. Family Guy normally doesn't try to keep THAT big of a continuity, but when a character is written out he/she is out.

Stewie may not FULLY become the Stewie we used to have, but I do take that episode as a notice that he may do more evil again. Honestly, I can only think of a handful of situations in the last four years where he was out-right evil ('Lois Kills Stewie', killing New Brian, and now this episode).

I don't much mind Stewie's not-so-new-anymore character. If anything, he's funnier this way. Before I was laughing at the fact that a baby is evil, now it's a question of how/why did a baby do stuff like that.

I think, with the newer version of Stewie, it's better (and funnier) if the evil stuff just comes at random moments, like with New Brian, or when he reclaimed Rupert and hijacked the car. That way it's more of a surprise for the viewer and keeps them on their toes.

The problem with Stewie is the writers have lost all balance in his character. His pure evil personality at the start of the show got old and boring as it went on, and post-"Lois Kills Stewie", his new excruiatingly stereotypically gay personality has gotten even more tiring. From mid-season 2 to season 5, I thought Stewie's character was great: he could be megamaniacally evil and intelligent, but also childishly immature, naive, and humorusly effiminate, with the gay stuff being undertones rather than overtones. But I doubt we'll be getting that Stewie back, and the whole show's the worse for it. :(

I thought I read a few years back that Seth and co. were tired of "evil Stewie" (or, tired of the idea of him trying to rule the world every episode)... hence, they transformed him into the character we now know as "gay Stewie", because they thought it was funnier.

Unless he or one of the other writers had a sudden change of heart, I don't see them going back. Even in this latest episode, Stewie wasn't all that evil; it was mostly the clone doing the dirty work. He was fighting with it, obviously, but for most of that episode, he still acted as he's always have within the last 4-5 years.

Family Guy is so drastically different now from its early years that we'll probably never see these characters return to their original personalities. For the most part, Stewie will be continue to be gay, Brian will continue to be preachy, Meg will continue to be treated in a cruel and merciless abandon, and so on and so forth. We'll occasionally get episodes like that one from two weeks ago, that'll kind of "throw a bone" to the original fans (we've actually had several "evil Stewie" episodes within the past couple of years) but these characters have, for the most part, adopted new personalities overall. I don't see them ever permanently going back to the way they used to be.

I think it depends on whoever's writing the episode now. Sometimes he acts really evil in one episode and the next really gay. I like that though, never know what to expect.
Now if only they stopped making Peter such a likable jerk and turn him back into a lovable oaf again...

Its certainly not like Family Guy hasn't made changes to characters that change them forever in the past.

There's more then a few examples of this happening. I can easily call attention to when Peter found out he was literally an idiot on the IQ scale and the writers used this as a point to simply not even try to give him a resemblance of intelligence anymore.

We've also seen some changes to Louis's character particular post especially post Talent Show.

Then of course theres Peter's job changes too.

I know the point of the series is to usually return to status quo at the end of the episode, but I was really hoping this would be a nod to see some more diabolic plotting on the side of Stewie.

It's not like he's competiting for "Cartoon character trying to take over the world" anymore.

Here's my opinion. We have discussed on the topic on whether or not Stewie is gay and the answer is he can sort of go both ways, whichever way is funnier.

I think it's sort of the same thing on whether Stewie is evil or not. There are episodes when he does evil things such as in "Lois Kills Stewie" and some times when he is more of the comic relief type. So overall he seems to be a little of both. They just seem to go with whatever works.

Sort of similar to my namesake Daffy Duck, sometimes he's a wild, zany character and other times he's a greedy egomaniac. Just thought I'd point out that comparison. The writers seem to often change a character's personality according to the episode's plot or what the joke is about or whatever.

Exactly. The whole discussion of whether or not it was the evil Stewie who survived, or whether Stewie is going to be more evil now is really a pointless discussion. With pretty much any cartoon you shouldn't put too much thought into the litte stuff, but especially a show like Family Guy.

Why can't the writers just say that Stewie is bisexual? During the show's run he's shown attraction to both men and women, so it fits the bill. Yes, Family Guy isn't continuity heavy nor deep TV watching, but still...
