I've officially given up. Need public opinion. Serious answers only, please...
Basically, my dad had a stroke. After a few days, he's stabilized and is allowed to go home but can't pay the hospital bill, which has summed up to quite a number and continuing to pile up by the day. He's resolved to borrowing my mother's (they've separated for years now) credit card for the time being and Promises to pay her back by the end of the week. Problem is, she won't let him. Mainly because he never keeps his promises, plus she can't afford to be let down financially anymore. Persuasion is out of the question. Now I may have the power to help him out but there are risks that, when I weigh them with my logical sense, is way too much for me to handle. For one thing, if he doesn't keep his promise and pay me back by the end of the week my mom would probably disown me forever. I'm currently living with her and am too young and pampered to live on the streets. But I feel like I owe this to my father because he's the one who's been providing for me all these years, shelter omitted. Without him, I wouldn't be able to go to school or even eat. (Mom doesn't spare me anything unless its an emergency, not even a dime, none) On another note, he's taken measures by letting my brother do all the talking as well. Promising me that He'll be the one to bear the responsibility of paying up. Telling me, since he's never let me down like father has, that I should trust him. He gave out a very convincing speech and all... but frankly I just don't. Don't know if this is cynical talking, but my logic screams NO. He's the irresponsible eldest who likes to party and spend money like tap water, not exaggerated. On the other hand, however, if everything turns out well and he actually keeps his promise... Sigh. I really don't know what to do. I don't want to regret anything...
