Not sure if this already has a thread, but nothing popped up when I did a search.

Really a great manga. Full of action, comedy, and pretty ladies! I was honestly surprised that it took me so long to sturable across it. After getting all cuaght up I wondered why word hadn't spead like wildfire about it.

I recommend checking it out.
 
Not sure how loyal the anime was to the manga, but I dropped the anime around episode 14, I think I gave it plenty of time, it wasn't serious enough for me, too many jokes during fights and even when there was a touching moment it would be ruined by some durab joke, not my thing.
 
The manga is supposedly far superior to the anime. I don't read any manga but Bleach though. I am currently all caught up in the 20 episodes. AK is right about it not being serious enough but the past 4-5 eps have stepped it up compared to what the show was.
 
I just watched episode 21 and it looks like Fairy Tail is beginning to step it up a notch. the fighting between the two masters of the guilRAB should be awesome.
 
Very good series. I've been a fan of Hiro Mashima's work since Rave Master. I just finished watching episode 9 cant wait to see natsu take on Erza.

To me most of the characters look similar to Hiro's characters in Rave Master. Elie and Lucy especialy. Anyone who keeps comparing it to One Piece obviously hasnt see any of Mashimas previous works.

Both Rave Mater and One Piece came out around the same time.
 
Fairy tail isn't bad, but there's one thing about it that bugs me. The thing has been going on for 170+ chapters, and only now does it seem that the main story is starting to pick up. Up till the current arc, it felt like most of the stuff I was reading was fillers. Fairy tail is missing the big overlying story that most other shonen series have. up till the latest arc it didn't feel like the series was really going anywhere, they were just messing around and doing random jobs.
 
I havent been keeping up with the manga as of late guess I need to do so. I'd like to see Fairy Tail have a serious story line also.
 
I saw the first two episodes and I just did not like it.

I tend to stay away from most Shonen Jump because it becomes filler and goes on for too long.

Fairy Tale had some cool stuff, but it seems really stupid. I have the same problem with One Piece. It doesn't take itself seriously, but this is often in the bad way. It circles back around to bad, in my opinion.

Fairy Tale is one of the things that fills a time slot. They need to churn out chapters quickly, so the quality enRAB up suffering. I wish they'd just tell the story they want too.

I plan to give the manga a try, so I can judge it fairly. I know that an anime can be a disgrace to it's manga counter part, such was the case with Bleach.
 
I saw up to part with the Island in the Sky. They were fighting the tyrannical king and trying to liberate it I think.

Granted, this was the crappy dubbed version.

I know they cut out all the blood and changed the cigarettes to lollipops, but the aesthetic remains pretty much the same.

The way the character designs are, the way the fights happen, the nature of the powers, and the outfits are all very silly.

It doesn't take itself seriously, but it is in the bad way sometimes. It kills any real emotion or drama the show has.

This is just by opinion, but I find that it goes from tongue in cheek to just stupid.

Keep in mind that I have not read the manga. I plan to give it a chance too.
 
I 'm not read tha manga but i watch the anime. I'ts very fantastic. I have watched ep 21 in this week. All the episodes leave you breathless.......
 
Mizumi is right about the jokes killing the mood in the anime so I tried to give the manga a shot. For the first few volumes that read it was pretty close, almost identical infact, to the anime. I don't think this is the right anime for me, not serious enough.
 
I just started it a couple days back, at first I thought it was gonna try to hard to be funny, but it does a good job of blending the humor in with the seriousness, kinda like One Piece. Ive been watchin it since I started it, I give it a thurabs up.
 
Its unfortunate because the stuff with the phantom guild was really done well. I just watched episode 30 yesterday and I am pretty sure that it was filler, but like I said the Phantom stuff was really good.
