I was pulled over in Santa Clarita, CA for driving w/ a cellphone in my right hand. The call was on speaker phone. I also had dealer plates on my car with expired tags and I was speeding aprox. 5-10 miles over the limit. The officer excused the speeding and gave me a ticket for cell phone and tags. He said the tags would be a fix-it ticket or something. I called same day and they said they didn't have anything on file and that they couldn't tell me how much it would cost. My intention was to pay the ticket right away. I never received a ticket with the charges in the mail so I thought maybe it wasn't turned in. I just received a failure to appear and hold on my DL a day ago. The bail is $972. How do I get this matter resolved? I don't want to pay $972 for a $200 ticket. This is my first ticket. I don't know California procedure for tickets. My tags were renewed a couple of weeks ago at the DMV.
