I DESPERATELY NEED HELP. I am a 56 year old Staff Nurse. I had a Stapedectomy 12 weeks ago. Post op I was very nauseous, dizzy, had double vision and pulsatile tinnitus. I also developed a viral flu like illness. When tested with a tunning fork it showed the operation was successful, six days later the tuning fork test failed and my surgeon told me it was essential he took me back to theatre to check everything was in place. Post second op my surgeon told me everything was in place but he decided it was safer to remove the prosthesis. I am now left with worse hearing than before and dizzynes but the main problems is that I have pulsatile tinnitus, electric noises, and a humming in my ear. I also had a taste loss which returned after about four weeks but this week I have lost it again. I am desperate to find anyone who can help me. My surgeon has said he will not operate again. Does anyone know of a surgeon who could help me. Am I doomed to live like this for the rest of my life and how can I ever return to my work with these problems. I have seen a hearing therapist but found it did'nt help. Please help.
