low back pain

Guest
Is there anyone else out there who has had a major back surgery only to find out that 2 1/2 years later they need another surgery because of problems arising out of the first surgery? I had surgery 6/07 and have only been without unbearable back for 4 hours. I am on a high dosage of pain meRAB and patches. I am looking for information on what I can do and who i can contact for help other than having another spine surgery with no promises. Also where would i go to find information on trials and financial assistance, as I am disabled and my husband is unemployed. I am new to "Health BoarRAB", so please be patient. I am also willing to chat with anyone who may be in my shoes.

Hi and welcome. I have had 5 back surgeries and my biggest advice to you would be to make sure that you are in with a good pain mgmt doc/anethesiologist. It is important that you pain is well controlled so that: you can relax and heal and you will have the time to seek multiple opinions about the next step. A good pain specialist can offer you not only medications, epidural injections, spinal blocks, tens unit, physical therapy, burning of the nerves, stimulator, pain pumps, etc.

I think it is important to try every nonsurgery avenue first.

Good luck.
