I slipped on ice during the storm last week and hurt my wrist trying to stop the fall.. it seems to be getting somewhat better it just hurts when i move it in certain directions but there is no swelling there. i smacked my cheek on the concrete.. there was no bleeding but it swelled up right away and has been bruised and sensitive for 5 days now.. the bruise is now in the yellow stage but still dark and my cheek on one side is much bigger and protudes more then the other.. i really dont want to have it looked at bu a doctor if it is uneccasry.. it hurts to sleep on that side i have been icing it and trying to cover it up.. does anyone know when the swelling will go down.. bruising will go away and also how would i know if i have done serious damage to my cheek?

Hi I suspect the only way to know if serious damage to it has been done to it is by x-ray and I don't like radiation. Of course one could give the doctor a ring to ask and of course he would probably say come in and see. No casts can be applied anyway as far as I know. If the jaws are moveable and functional without problems and the other moveable parts of the face work a person could draw their own conclusion in my opinion. As for the bruise once upon a time a bruise went away faster with a flax, steam activated powdered charcoal and water (mixed and simmered together for a short time) poultice placed inside a folded paper towel. I would not get any on clothes or sheets it might not come off. Sometimes with head injuries there is also a brain bruise called a concussion. Even a slow brain bleed can be serious. Was consciousness lost? Is there dizziness, headache or other symptoms? Have a nice day.

Thank you for your reply.. consciencness was not lost but i have been experiencing headaches ever since, i think i will wait until the end of the week and see if there is any more progress if not i think i will go see a doctor.

Hi if the headache does not go away in a few minutes with a massage or ice pack maybe it would be a good idea to get an MRI at the Emergency room it is each persons's decision about what is done.

Facial abrasions to consider a nuraber of possible causes, such as trauma or damage of any accident caused by the face, as a cosmetic surgery, dental treatment and any post for some medical conditions such as asthma and anemia, especially, if it is in Children and facial bruising Finally, the intake of drugs, such as anti-inflammatory drugs and blood thinners.

Hi how is the facial bruise now? Is it better? Was a poultice used? Did the bruise go away faster? Was the ER seen? Take care
