Facebook New Feeds (pictures)?

I am new to facebook and I want to add alot of pics to my album but I don't want it to show up on peoples new feeds!! I want it to be private. Is there any way I can post pictures up without it showing up on my friends new feeds and letting them know? Will making my photo album private work? I hate it when I post pictures up and it let's everyone know.
