hi guys...i got the phone one week ago...looks cool...but a big problem comes with it...i dunno how to install games on it...i tried the 480 way, the D900 way....still no luck...please help

yes..i have read your posts from the topic with F480. you have the same problem as i have. We cannot find with bitpim (or another program) the folder where we should copy the jar and jad files. i've founded the codes for F490 for the admin menu and the password for internals...but same problem...when i press update java there's no result...no games installed appear...and another question...i know that we can use phones as modems and connect them to PC...and the PC will have the same internet connection like the phone after making some settings...i want to know if the viceversa is possible...i want to connect phone to PC and put internet on my phone through my PC's internet connection...do you think that is possible? if we had WIFI (wireless lan) we could connect with no problems through some free networks i quess...say your opinion cheers

again AFAIK the way you write about is not possible here, I thougth abotu it with my z400 the same platform, but got no ideas how to do that, you'd have to force the phone to use the internet connoction by the cable.. a sort of reversing the first situation, where phone works as a modem.. here phone would work as a client, so io guess two problems pc drivers and built in firmware driver.. if you have any theoretical ideas share them then we can try to figure sth out

regards

man do you think that the folder (where we're supposed to put jar and jad files) is hidden because of the firmware of the phone? if i will unlock my phone (it's registered to vodafone) i will lose my warranties...and by the way...that's why i am trying to put internet on the phone...to download java over the air...using wap and so on...

yes, i get the idea, i've even tried with browsers both internal and external, but samsung enginneers blocked all the possibilities,

it's interesting they blocked this folder in f480 and 490s the situation may be caused due the fact that they have only touch sreens and no physical keyboard, so they were affraid of software freees in case of using normal apps

unlocking folder has nothing to do with warranty

flashing your phone may void it, but if you have your soft ande flash it to another you can always reflash it when something goes werong back to your soft (but you must have it first)

the final thought, after dealing with z400 firmware vodafone had the best and the most changed one, so i wouldnt be supprised if it was the same case here, but i wouldn't count on locking the phone, on voda firmware it had more useful options as full screen video,m 4 alarms, dif calc, and java acces to files built in

thanks man for your ideas. well i quess that i'll have to live without java aplications good luck man. cheers

This will work, it did on my f490

Download Driver & File Explorer. as i cant post links search for driver and TkfieExplorer_2.2.exe

Uncompress SAMSUNG_Composite_USB_Driver_4_34_WHQL.zip and execute Setup.exe.
Connect F480 to PC. First time you should be prompted with a 'device installed and ready' message.
Execute TkFileExplorer_2.2.exe
Go to Settings - COM.
Scroll down Port window: You should get just one COMxx option. Choose it and press OK.
Go to File - Connect. You should get the F480 File System Tree at TkFileExplorer bottom half side.
Go to /Exe/Java/Games
Create a New Folder for your game
At TkFileExplorer PC upper side select game JAD/JAR files and copy to F480 created folder using drag&drop or right button menu Download option.
Repeat steps 9 & 10 for all games you want to install at a time.
Disconnect USB cable
Dial *#3695147*#
Go to Internals (Master Key: *#3971258*#)
Go to Storage Settings and select Update Java DB
Enjoy! ...and save money!

NOTE 1:
You do not need to change Samsung USB mode to Qualcomm. Leave it at its default Samsung mode (if you do not understand this just do nothing )
NOTE 2:
Once driver is installed, Samsung PC Studio 3 still works
Follow it carefully its good have fun
