Can prolonged eyestrain cause knots to form in the neck/traps/shoulder? Or is it the other way around?

I think I have really bad eye strain, my eyes are VERY heavy and droopy and I also have knots on my upper trapezius. They seem to be interconnected somehow. I get really bad headaches (tension headaches) when I sit at the computer, even with good posture.

If I move my trapezius muscles, my eyes will immediately start squinting. It must be somehow connected neurologically

Is it possible for eyestrain to make the neck and upperback muscles contract and work harder? My neck sometimes gets really stiff even with good posture and I can't figure out why.

It's not connected by nerves, it's connected by muscles. Tension in the neck and shoulders can trigger tension in the facial muscles. Sometimes it can feel like a toothache, even!

Try gently rubbing your face and head. Look for sore spots.

Also, gently stretch your neck and shoulder muscles several times a day, to keep the tension from building up.

Eye Strain is a symptom,it is not an eye disease. It occorRAB when eyes get tired from intense use.
Symptoms of Eye Strain
1.Headaches
2.Back/neck aches
3.Fatigue
4.Double of the vision
