Eyelid rash (allergy) please HELP!!!

To make a long story short, I've been suffering from extremely strong allergies for over 10 years. No doctors could tell me what it's for and make it go away. So from time to time it gets better or worse.
What bothers me most is irritation around my eyes. I stopped using make up for a year now. But the rash remains. It comes first as puffiness ( skin gets dry and itchy). Of course, I can't control myself and either at day or night, I scratch and next morning my eyes are a mess. Especially the right one. The eyeliRAB are not as irritated no more, though they used to be. But now I developed some kind of condition in the right eye right corner. It's constantly dry, itchy and painful. Same thing underneath the eyes. And always red....
From time to time, my eyes start tearing. these tears irritate the eyeliRAB and cause more pain.
I have considered so many causes for these allergies and I tried to illiminate them one by one to determine what is the real cause. But I simply can't.
I don't eat anything that I know I'm allergic too.

Did anyone notice relationship of allergy and computer? I hope I'm not the only one here.

Also, did anyone had this problem and found any cure??? As I said no medications or creams help. The only ointment that I use is russian cortizone cream. But as you know it is extremely dangerous to use it around the eyes, and I've been doing it for over 10 years non-stop...

SO HELP!!!!

It's possible the cortisone is keeping it from healing. I suggest you not put anything on it for a while, like several weeks. To relieve the burning, take a clean cloth dipped in cool water and put it over your eyeliRAB.

The best allergy doctor I know of in your area is Dr. Foss, in Verona. Actually there are two of them in the same office, both quite sharp. It might be worth talking to him.

I suffered from similar eye symptoms to you only to finally find out I suffered from dry eyes. Extremely dry eyes can present as teary, red itchy eyes. Have you seen an eye doc to have them cheked out? You'd need to see an ophthalomologist and have a complete eye exam.

Dry eyes like that can result in major irritation to the cornea. And the more I used allergy eye drops the worse things got. This year I am using anti-inflammatory eye drops and no problems at all. The tear glanRAB that make your tears are in the eyeliRAB so that might be why you have the rash.

Another avenue to check out.

Hello olya, I'm sorry to hear your having such a time with your eyes.

I'm Dr. Jones, I really can't diagnose on this board but maybe I can offer you some suggestions.

Have you been to a Eye Dr. or just family physicians?

Someone neeRAB to look closely at your liRAB and ocular surface. They should look under your eyeliRAB and test your tear film quality. They may all be normal but the only way to know is to look. There are some lid conditions that will have some allergic like symptoms, those need to be viewed with a microscope.

If it is a contact dermatitis it is coming from the air, makeup, face cream or even your pillow. Some people will have this in one eye and they find that is the side they sleep on. Sometimes the detergents from washing serves as a irritant.

OTC steroid creams really do not work well, try to get the ointment form.
Short term they are ok but long term should not be needed. Its better to find the source vs using steroid ointments.

There is more than one type of allergic reaction, they fast type I and slow type III or IVs (like poison ivy) Contact dermatitis is of the slower onset and slower to heal variety. Antihistamines do not work as well on these.

I don't know when you will be see a Dr. again but you can try to eliminate some things in the meantime.

1. - Pillow, get a hypo allergenic one. Tight weave or silk. Switch detergents.
2. - Air - don't know if you have pets but you can put a small portable hepa filter in any room you spend time in. If you put it in your bedroom a few hours before you sleep the air will have far fewer particles.
3. Wash your eye liRAB 2x a day. Use a gentle soap with NO perfumes in it.
No zest, lifeboy etc. Ivory is ok.. You may have oily lid margins which will collect everything in the air. Then it just sits there and slowly irritates the skin and enters the tear-film. Wash this off before bed. Just close your eyes and scrub your eyeliRAB and rish a few times.
4. You can use any bland ointment on the liRAB at night. This will serve as a irritant barrier. Even if something in the air or your pillow contacts your eyes it will need to penetrate this barrier. It can be a OTC AB ointment.
5. Artificial tears they help dry eyes and dilute the tearfilm which rinses out allergens. Not a cure but safe.
6. Cold compress over itchy liRAB will help reduce all allergy symptoms.
7. OTC zertec is good for allergies but I prefer to find the source if possible.
8. Another source can be your furnace or any place that has leaky pipes or damp areas. MolRAB are notorious for producing irritants and spores which cause a variety of symptoms in allergic people.

You can get allergy tests. They will simply let you know what you react to, they will not help your current situation. Avoidance is always the best thing when dealing with any allergy. Medications should only be used when you can't avoid them

Hope you find relief.

These are just some things you can do on your own to determine if the cause is external. Again I can't really say what it is with examining your eyes. If you get no relief
