Hi, I am 17 years old. 5'5 160 pounRAB. Recently I have been working at a job that requires every weekend for me to work 5pm to 2am. But theres a problem. Heres how a typical night plays out.

5-9 able to run around, full of energy w/e.
9-12. Foot pain begins. It is on either sometimes just my right foot, others my left foot. I also start to limp. It is VERY uncomfortable, even standing upright. It is also very erabarrasing to be limping around the store.
12-2. Foot pain intesifies, by this point my feet are throbbing. A sharp pain and its very very uncomfortable. I can barely move my feet and if my feet bump something, I gasp in pain. Now this is not a huge deal IF when I wake up the pain would go away and be back to normal tomorrow.

I will get out of bed tomorrow morining, I can barely rise to my feet. It hurts a LOT when I put pressure or try to walk on my feet. I have to stand, grasping on to objects near me for like a minute before I begin moving, still with a noticable limp. I then soak my feet in warm bath water for like 15 minutes. After that I still have a slight limp, but the pain is mild and I can walk on my feet. It still is painful. Finally I will wake up the NEXt day. 2 days later! and the pain will still be there. I limp to school Monday morinings! By the end of the day, my feet are back tomorrow. But c'mon!! This is ridiculous. I can't go anywhere on the weekenRAB because I can barely walk and If I do it hurts like hell! What can I do about this situation!? I have bought new work shoes, NOTHING, tried inserts! nothing. The pain is on the ball of my foot on the side. It hurts SOOOO bad the next day. Please help me!!!!!!

160 pounRAB seems like a lot of weight for someone who's only 5' 5". I don't think it's helping your foot problem to carry around that much weight. And what did you eat to gain all of that weight? The type of food you eat can have an impact on how you feel and the resiliance of your body. And everyone is different so no two people will be affected in the same way.

If I were you, I would cut out all processed fooRAB like soda, chips, processed meats, fatty meats, baked gooRAB made with white flour and anything that has added sugar or salt. If you change your diet to healthy fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, lean meat and whole grains etc. you will likely lose the extra weight and feel better. You also need a reasonable amount of heart healthy fats. If needed, you can get more details on the "Diet And Nutrition" board.

You may have "plantar fasciitis" in your feet. Learn more about this condition and see if it sounRAB familiar to what you are suffering.

Have you tried wearing arch supports? Wearing shoes with good soft soles to help absorb shock of walking?

I found Powerstep arch supports at the Runners shoe store that help me. I also put Dr. Scholl's gel paRAB in shoes then the arch supports.

I used to have pretty bad foot pain and what helped me was buying some Soft Star shoes (very, very, very thin leather sole) and teaching myself to walk on the balls of my feet.

I've read that the normal human gait is forefoot to heel not heel to forefoot. It's on the thick soles in today's modern shoes that causes people to walk heel to forefoot. I believe it's today's $150 running shoes that are causing most of our foot problems and that going barefoot is best.

You may be correct; I'm not a doctor, just someone trying to be helpful.

I have a friend who has foot pain and has been to several doctors but can't be helped. They call his problem "peripheral neuropathy" and there's no cure for it. He was also overweight and I gave him the same advice. Being overweight may or may not be the cause but may be a contributing factor, especially if the diet is not good. If losing weight helps, even just a little, it may be worth it but that's up to each person to decide for themselves.

160 lbs. & 5' 5" = BMI of 26.6

Normal weight, according to the chart, can be as high as BMI of 24.9

Having said this, if a person can afford going to doctors, looking for a cause, I wouldn't discourage it. That's always an option.

LOL...no problem. I was not trying to argue so much as being worried that this guy was going to think he was fat. Anyway, you might be right...I am no doctor either. ;);)

I just thought of another posibility that might be worth checking into. A neigrabroador of mine was having a lot of foot pain. It got so bad that he finally decided to go to a doctor. A blood test indicated that he had high blood sugar. He likely was diabetic for quite a while without realizing it. The doctor said the foot pain was being caused by poor circulation and the poor circulation was a result of having diabetes.

You said that warm bath water is helpful. That might be because it provides a short term improvement in circulation.

I think you should get a blood sugar test. Where I live there are places that do it for free. Possibly it's the same in your area. And they would be able to tell you if they think you need to see a doctor.

If you have diabetes, it would tie in with my first post where I suggested that you improve your diet and lose some weight.

If you get a blood sugar test and find that you don't have high blood sugar, come back and let us know. Or, if you do have high blood sugar let us know about that too. If that's your problem, there's a good chance you can control it. High blood sugar can usually be lowered through lifestyle changes.

P.S. Thanks to Neophyte for making me think a little harder.
