Please explain the origin and composition of the Burmese junta -- what was the nature of the war it grew out of, when did they take power, who leads it, what is their political orientation, etc. All ancillary details appreciated. Who would like them dead? Why Myanmar vs. Burma? What ethnicities are involved? What about Burma's relationship to China as a former satrap? Did the U.S. play a role in the junta's coming to power? I'll take any info you have. I have a vague recollection of some details but have been too lazy/busy to look up a good article about it (a link to a solid, detailed article would be as good as a written answer).
