EXPERIENCED MECHANIC 2000 Jeep cherokee low hose will not go onto water-pump inlet!?

I was going to immerse It into boiling water for several minutes.
Or buy a hook tool.
Or both. This hose is at least 1/4 small in diameter than the inlet
 
ask it nicely(LoL).your sure you have the right hose///when ina pinch some WD-40 or some oil off the dypstyck on to the inside of the hose helps.check that both ends are in the correct direction.before you goop up the hose call the parts store you got it at and see (ASK) if there is another application besides the one they gave you.
