i got a new crf250r so far i got all the bacis cornering and stuff but i had learned it on a smaller bike. what is the best way to start and learn how to hit jumps on a bigger dirt bike like throttle control, how to come to the jump, what to expect in the air. the basics of jumping and learning the right way. becuase i seen some kids trying and learning but were doing it very sketchy not the way i want to start becuase i plan on racing sometime later on.

all answers greatly appreciated !

Throttle control is the most important thing. You need to start on smaller jumps or table tops first (they are more forgiving). Start off taking the jump slow and each time try it going a little faster.

Never let off the gas on a jump or you are going to nose down off the jump. It takes practice to know what your bike is going to do so take it easy and you will gradually get it.

I just changed from a trail bike to a 2 stroke and love jumps now.

Hopefully you can find someone at the track where you ride or maybe a friend who knows how to ride, then you can follow them and match their speed.

Search on line for Gary Semics and I believe he has some videos that you can watch for free online. He is a bit goofy, but you can definitely learn from him.

Good Luck and Have fun.
