Experience car buyer/price negotiator help? 2010 mazda 3 buyer?

I'm looking to buy a new car soon (mazda 3 to be exact) and it's my first time buying a brand new car at the dealership. I've heard of "scary" story about how the dealer could scam you into buying a car that the price is way higher than what is worth...So I need help. Like what should I do in order to avoid being scam? and if you bought the mazda3 yourself, can you tell me what spec is it and how much is the price? it would be a lot of help. Thanx
