I will be moving to LA and will need to buy a car. What costs are involved with buying a 2nd hand car from an independent person (not a car lot) in the states? I am not American (although I wish I was!) And how much on average would each item cost?
I only want what is necessary and not extra benefits!!
Transfer of ownership/ papers/ 3rd party insurance/ plates/ road side assistant...?? Anything else??
I'd also like to have a mechanic look at the car. Is this something that can be done?
I will get a California license when I arrive and I may be in LA for a year. This option will be cheaper than renting a car for a year!!
